PodCamp Toronto is proud to announce High Road Communications as one of our Gold sponsors for PodCamp Toronto 2010. High Road Communications shapes integrated communications for technology and digital lifestyle companies, serving clients across North America from offices in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver and San Francisco.

We asked High Road Communications’ Katherine Fletcher, SVP, Senior Partner & Managing Director, Digital, about their involvement in this year’s event:

1. Why did you sponsor PodCamp Toronto?
It’s a natural fit for High Road Communications to have an active presence as a sponsor at this year’s PodCamp Toronto, as we have made it a top priority to integrate digital and social media elements into all of our client work, and we’re excited to be a part of it. There is so much value in bringing new and social media innovators together to share experiences, learn from each other, and create great connections. We can’t wait!

2. What are you most looking forward to at PodCamp Toronto this year?
I’m impressed with the variety of topics covered in the sessions, and I love that this year’s PodCamp Toronto has attracted such a broad range of participants. Of course, one of the best parts of these events is meeting people that I’ve engaged with online in person, so I’m really looking forward to that.

3. What session/speaker are you most interested in seeing?
The great thing about PodCamp Toronto is that since it’s an unconference, you’re never locked into anything. Out of the 49 sessions currently listed, I’m working on my list of “see in person” sessions and “watch online” sessions. I’m really interested in anything on measurement and analysis, such as Aubrey Podolsky’s session on social media analytics, and Bob Nun’s “Getting ROI for Social Media”. And who can resist a session called “Death to Pie Charts”?! Plus there are some awesome sessions on online community building, particularly with Kim Vallée, Erica Ehm and High Road’s own Eden Spodek.

4. For PodCamp newbies, do you have any words of advice?
Get engaged. See as much as you can. Talk to people. Find at least three new things to try when you leave.

When you think about PodCamp Toronto, what’s one of the first things that comes to mind?

Podcasting? Social media? Great sessions? Community building? Hanging out with your friends for the weekend? Networking opportunities? These are only a few of the terms used to describe what is arguably the largest social media event in Canada.

Another term we take for granted is “free”. Free refers to a lot of things when thinking about PodCamp Toronto. Best of all, more than 700 people have already registered for PodCamp Toronto and they can all attend for free – all because of the generous support of our sponsors. Currently we have 21 sponsors – including some in-kind contributions – all help make the weekend a success.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll publishing interviews with representatives from each of our sponsoring organizations. Please take a minute to read each one and show them your support during PodCamp and throughout the year.

More information on how you can become a sponsor.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the Rogers Communications Centre at Ryerson University for their continued support.

Thanks,

Eden, Katie and Michelle
